Dr. S. Ramanathan (Fellow – IIAS): A Lifelong Learner and Dedicated Scholar Dr. S. Ramanathan’s academic journey is one that reflects humility, depth, and an unwavering commitment to lifelong learning. With over four decades of experience that bridges academia and industry, he has consistently sought to blend tradition with innovation, scholarship with accessibility, and reflection with relevance. A multilingual scholar and thoughtful communicator, Dr. Ramanathan holds four doctoral degrees in diverse disciplines—Communication Management, History, Political Science, and Open & Distance Education. His academic breadth is further deepened by three Doctor of Literature (D.Litt.) titles from respected Indian universities. His D.Litt. in Ancient Indian Sciences and Humanities, awarded by Kavikulaguru Kalidas Sanskrit University (KKSU), Maharashtra, reflects a deep-rooted interest in India's traditional knowledge systems. Another D.Litt., from Srinivas University, Karnataka, recognized his pioneering research in digital transformation in healthcare. A third, from Kumaun University, Nainital, explored the relevance of ancient Indian management principles to contemporary practice—a rare intellectual bridge between the timeless and the timely. Dr. Ramanathan’s early education at Hindu High School, Triplicane, and Presidency College, Chennai, shaped his foundational worldview. Over the years, he has been actively involved in curriculum development and student mentorship, particularly in management studies, and has published widely in peer-reviewed journals. He has served at leading Educational Institutions, holding responsible positions in the arena of Management Studies. His gentle, inclusive teaching style and depth of thought have left a lasting impression on the student community as a whole. Outside academia, Dr. Ramanathan has maintained a steady and meaningful presence in public discourse. For over 25 years, he has contributed nearly 800 insightful columns to Trinity Mirror, an English evening daily from Chennai. His writings—ranging from management education and national integration to personality development, AI, and Indian knowledge systems—have reached a wide and diverse readership, always with clarity, warmth, and sincerity. He is often invited to speak at national and international forums, not only for his expertise but also for his grounded, thoughtful perspective.
